Hi !
Nearly exactly one year after our last session at Steven's house as a full band, we were in da house for a new rehearsals/jam session/party. Thomas Pokker played bass for Simon's civic rap Tout Le Monde Vote Aux Élections and Max took over the drums for the epic Green Balloon jam.
Track names are absolutely non-final, I just felt like all tracks needed to have a name. I can't find a cool name for the record so I just titled it [the dick riviere experience] for bandcamp but feel free to call it as you wish and to don't confuse it with the 2010 record The Dick Riviere Experience.
We also shot some videos on DV that will show up soon on a DVD and Vimeo (I'm thinkin about including material shot earlier and to film our last session at CyberSound next saturday to make a cool 60/90min 90's style home-video).

Stay tuned for DVD news soon,

Silver Session for Gauthier Saint
Hi !
Last saturday, we were supposed to rehearse new songs and play some kind of a private gig for Gauthier Saint, one of our good friends who lives in Dublin and couldn't attend our first gig. Unfortunately, Gwendal missed his train and next ones were too late for him to arrive early enough to rehearse properly and Max had a show with Bärlin in the evening and had to leave early for the afternoon soundcheck.
Consequently, the rehearsals session turned into an old-school jam session in the style of our very first DRE sessions. As Gwendal wasn't here, we asked Gauthier, who isn't really a musician, to play drums and he managed to play cool evil tribal percussions. Last track was an attempt to create a long atmospheric track with Simon trying every single stompbox on my pedalboard; some kind of conceptual intro we might use to start future gigs.

Enjoy the session and keep evil,

Live @ Revenge Pub
Hi !
You can listen to the recording of our very first public performance on our bandcamp page. As a 'thank you' to all the people who came to see us, we are offering free download of the recording.
Yesterday was hard for us because we spent something like 5 hours rehearsing at CyberSound before feeling ready to take the stage. But we are all pretty satisfied with how things turned and, excluding Palinopsia that we didn't played really great, our performance.
We are sorry for people who wanted more but that's all the tracks we master for the moment. Don't worry, there are more to come soon (thinking about stuff from Garage and The Dick Riviere Experience and maybe the epic last track of Chemical).
The Blue Angel Lounge and The Dead Mantra played great despite technical difficulties (shitty speakers and/or power amp and/or soundboard rendering kazoo-like distorted vocals) and are very nice people we sure would like to see again soon.
As for now, we have no further dates and we are opened to all cool bands who would like to share a stage around Lille.
Keep it evil,
W

+ Blue Angel Lounge

PS : Sorry to our English-speaking reader(s) for this French-language only post but this announcement is aimed at people living around Lille, France. Anyway, if you're a total DRE fan and are absolutely full of motivation and money and just waiting for a good occasion to visit our country, we will play our very first gig at the Revenge Pub in Lille (North of France) on Sat. 18th February supporting The Dead Mantra.
EDIT : Comme promis, voila l'affiche :

Rehearsals at CyberSound Studio (10/12/2011)
Hi,
Last saturday was our second rehearsal session at CyberSound. As we moved our asses to Tourcoing to see the Black Lips and didn't go to bed early, we were not in the greatest mood for work but things went pretty not that bad.
We nearly finished Electric Snake (formerly The DRE_07) and it's not impossible that we start recording it track by track soon to make a proper demo now that everybody is happy with the song structure.
We spent nearly the whole 4 hours of the session working Electric Snake and only tried a couple of time Palinopsia so there's still a lot of work to do on it.
We also retried The DRE_01 (I'm working on the name) and it sounded cool without any specific rework (sorry, we didn't record it) so it'll definitely be on our list.
Next move is working songs this weekend and next week in Steven's house (our spiritual HQ) and either Steven's flat or CyberSound.
If anyone has tracks they like or ideas on how to make massive amounts of "winter 2010 style" snow fall over Villers au Bois, please tell us on our FB page.
Stay evil,
W

Rehearsals at CyberSound Studio (29/10/2011)
Hi !
It's been a long time since last time you may have heard from us and the band has basicaly been on hiatus for the summer. But the good news is we are currently reworking some songs from jammed records and doing it the professional way this time, no booze, no party and renting rehearsal space in various studios.
For this first rehearsal, we landed at CyberSound Studio in Lille and locked ourselves 4 hours in a hot soundproof room. Miraculously, insead of turning into a gay orgy, we reworked Electric Snake and Palinopsia.
Being kinda disappointed with the way we first reworked these tracks back in april, we spent the previous evening working on the structure and parts of Electric Snake, taking the version from The Dick Riviere Experience as reference instead of continuing what we did in april. As a result, the song is shorter but has way more intensity and is considered nearly finished.
Palinopsia was also restarted using DRE001 version as basic in order to keep the evil tribal vibe of the original recording. Unfortunately, reworking Electric Snake took us a lot of time and we had to work less on this track so it cuts abruptly because we still need to find a couple more sections to finish it but I think we have a good start.
This first session in rehearsal studio was a try to see if we were able to work seriously without being partying at the same time and what the result would be like, being doubtful about the future of the band last summer. As you can hear on our Bandcamp page, the result is pretty good (still a bit messy but it's only the start) and we will keep on reworking songs seriously until we have enough material for starting live shows and recording a first album.
Keep it evil,
W
